Banksia found in Australia is a woody shrub popular as a flowering garden plant; it can grow to 30 metres. The Banksia named in 1770 by Sir Joseph Banks, botanist on Captain James Cook’s first expedition.
The Banksia nut is a seed cone, quite easy to turn but the seeds can be dangerous when they fly out of the nut whilst turning. It is recommended to wear face protection and a good dust mask.
