The Universal Mandrels have a smaller 19x32” diameter neck for turning Honey Dippers. The package includes a sleeve to slide over the neck to increase the size to 13 x 16” this matched the BSM neck size, ideal for Bottle Stoppers.

The bottle stopper mandrels have a 3/8”x16 self-tapping thread to match the Stainless Bottle Stoppers, Honey Dippers and Bottle Openers. Simply drill a 9.5mm hole in in the centre of one end of your chosen workpiece and screw the workpiece onto the mandrel, then take it off to put the plastic washer in place and then screw the blank back onto the mandrel. Bring the tailstock up to the wood to ensure stability when roughing out and until the turning is close to completion, then remove the tailstock sand and apply your chosen finish.

The blank will be tight up to the mandrel shoulder when the turning is complete, using the washer provided will help release the work easily.

Some of the very hard exotic species may have to be threaded with a metal tap, alternatively one of the brass inserts can be used. Each mandrel is finished with a rust protective black oxide coating and supplied in a protective plastic box. Made in America by Steer Machine Tool and Die Corp they are precision machined to run true to within .002” of an inch.
